Anton Goudsmit is currently one of today’s best known Dutch guitarists. At the age of eleven he already preferred plucking his guitar above anything else; it relaxed his busy brain. Thirty years later this is still the case. According to Anton, fooling around on the guitar is the best thing imaginable. In 2010 he received the most important jazz award in The Netherlands, the VPRO/Boy Edgar Prize. He’s the co-founder of Dutch jazz bands The Ploctones and New Cool Collective. This gig will showcase what he’s capable of with a guitar, with his own compositions and the music of jsuch azz heroes as Thelonious Monk and Herbie Nichols.
