BENNY GOLSON QUARTET
FEAT. ANTONIO FARAÒ
CONCERT WITHOUT INTERMISSION
Benny Golson sax, Antonio Faraò piano, Gilles Naturel bas, Doug Sides drums
American saxophone player Benny Golson is a true jazz legend: a tenor giant and a composer of world famous standards.
Benny Golson is more than just a fantastic tenor saxophone player; he’s a legendary composer who linked harmony to the energy of bebop. He has written over 300 compositions, including ever popular standards such as Whisper Not and I Remember Clifford.
Benny Golson played in ensembles led by Dizzy Gillespie and Art Blakey. This year he published his autobiography Whisper Not, in which he writes about his friendship with John Coltrane. Golson still leads his own quartet. Last summer his album Horizon Ahead was released under great critical acclaim.
‘Among jazz greatest living composers’ (Washington Post).
‘The sound of Golson’s horn is to die for, and his forever-bluesy inventions remain enticing’ (Downbeat).
