Drummer and ‘sound manipulator pas excellence’ (Draai om je oren) Gerri Jäger, known as a member of Knalpot, will perform with rising stars from the European improv scene.

Gerri Jäger is best known from the band Knalpot, infiltrating the Amsterdam underground as well as the European festivals with ‘raw electronics, wild improv and danceable dub’ (de Volkskrant). Following his conservatory studies in Amsterdam, the Austrian-born drummer immersed himself in experimental music, combining his drums with the kind of gear mostly associated with DJ’s. For this carte blanche concert at the Bimhuis he calls in the help of his Knalpot partner Raphael Vanoli, forming a line-up with excellent international avant-jazz musicians.

‘Gerri Jäger is one of a kind, an incredibly flexible drummer, interested in shifting musical boundaries’ (Vera Vingerhoeds).

For years, several times each season, the Bimhuis has been offering carte blanche to remarkable talents from the Dutch and international music worlds. Over the years this opportunity to curate a concert evening has led to the most surprising one-off collaborations as well as many new ensembles.

The Bimhuis restaurant is open prior to the concert from 6.30 till 8.30PM (reservations via 020-7882158). After the concert, the Bimhuis Café is open (free entrance).

Ticket: € 16 / € 13 (CJP, student card, Stadspas)
