The Corkestra’s unorthodox ensemble seems capable of anything. This international company, led by bandleader and keyboardist Cor Fuhler, includes two percussionists, three wind players, a double bassist, a punk guitarist and a cymbalist. Fuhler’s adventurous ideas serve as points of departure for thoughtful experimentation. Sun Ra’s Arkestra, Misha Mengelberg and ICP are important sources of inspiration. ‘Fuhler’s tunes are sophisticated constructs, inventive melodically and formally’ (Jazz Times).
