Donny McCaslin’s solos on tenor saxare praised by everyone. In 2004 the New York based musician was nominated for the Grammy for Best Instrumental Jazz Solo. In 2008 he won first place in the Rising Star-polls of Downbeat Magazine. At the Bimhuis he shone on stage as sideman to Dave Douglas. His own trio is expanded tonight with master pianist Uri Caine. ‘McCaslin is a roof-raising tenor saxophonist’ (The Observer).
