DRE PALLEMAERTS ‘PAN HARMONIE’ FEAT. MARK TURNER, BILL CARROTHERS, STEPHANE BELMONDO, JOZEF DUMOULIN
Mark Turner-sax, Bill Carrothers-piano, Stephane Belmondo-trumpet, Jozef Dumoulin-Fender Rhodes, Dré Pallemaerts-drums, electronica
For years now Belgian drummer Dré Pallemaerts has played quite often in France. He is a member of the Belmondo-Yusef Lateef Sextet, the Belmondo Quintet, the Baptiste Trotignon-David El Malek Quartet and the Bill Carrothers Trio. Last year he released the album Pan Harmonie with an all-star line-up to exceptional acclaim in the French press: specialised magazines such as Jazzman and Jazz Magazine rated the CD ‘choc’ and ‘disque d’émoi, respectively’. The CD won the Klara Jazz Muziekprijs in Belgium. ‘As a drummer Dré Pallemaerts catches your ear thanks to his flexibility, subtlety, swing and timing. He is not a power drummer, rather one always supporting the music. He is more concerned with searching for the right sound. It sometimes looks like he does not actually hit the drums, but let his drumsticks fall on the skins to produce the sound.’ (De Standaard).
