The cool jazz by legendary piano player Lennie Tristano is ‘a combination of Bach and Charlie Parker’, according to Rein de Graaff. This pianist and bebop specialist’s own trio plays Tristano’s music with renowned guests, who include Gary Foster. This American alto saxophonist played alongside Warne Marsh, Lee Konitz and Clare Fisher. Foster is counted among the main interpreters of Tristano’s music. In The Netherlands there are basically two saxophone players that have mastered Tristano’s language: Marco Kegel and Simon Rigter.
