Venezuelan-Dutch percussionist Gerardo Rosales has performed with famous Latin jazz artists such as Paquito D’Rivera, Bebo Valdés and Oscar D’Leon. As a band leader he blends Venezuelan and Cuban rhythms with salsa and jazz, creating a new sound. With the Afro Cuban Jazz Quintet he honors Chano Pozo (1915-1948), the legendary percussion player and pioneer of Latin jazz. Pozo played in the big band of Dizzy Gillespie, with whom he composed the hit singles ‘Mateca’ and ‘Tin Tin Deo’.
