HILARIO DURÁN TRIO FEAT. HORACIO 'EL NEGRO' HERNANDEZ, ROBERTO OCCHIPINTI
Hilario Durán piano, Roberto Occhipinti bass, Horacio "El Negro" Hernandez drums
In the seventies he was Chucho Valdes' chosen successor in Cuba's most modern bigband, in the eighties he worked with Arturo Sandoval and Dizzy Gillespie, since then he played with the greats and won many prizes in Canada and the USA: Hilario Durán is a mature piano virtuoso, who chooses the adventurous and orchestral approach to his instrument, influenced by his rich experience as composer and arranger. In his trio double bassist Roberto Occhipinti, the anchor of many classical, jazz- and Latin ensembles, and one of the world's best Latin drummers, El Negro, known for his work with Rubalcaba, Patitucci and Santana. ‘Coming very close to sounding like a Latin jazz big band. This is quite the feat for a trio’ (Jazz Times).
