JOHN SCOFIELD - COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN
FEAT. VICENTE ARCHER, SULLIVAN FORTNER & BILL STEWART
John Scofield gitaar, Sullivan Fortner orgel/piano, Vicente Archer bas, Bill Stewart drums
Master guitarist John Scofield plays his own versions of classic country songs, in collaboration with well-known American jazz musicians. The album was awarded with a Grammy.
John Scofield is one of the most popular jazz guitarists of all time and a true musical chameleon. In the early 1980s he played with Miles Davis before launching a successful solo career. Currently he celebrates success with the project Country for Old Men, performing ‘outlaw country tunes’ in his own unique style, in collaboration with masterful American jazz musicians. They improvise while keeping the character and ‘twang’ of the classics in the extensive repertory, which includes songs by George Jones, Hank Williams and even Shania Twain! The eponymous album Country for Old Men was awarded with a Grammy.
