Pianist/composer Kris Davis is regarded as one of the great talents on the contempary American jazz scene. According to a recent piece in the New York Times “Over the last couple of years in New York’, one method for deciding where to hear jazz on a given night has been to track down pianist Kris Davis. Davis made her Bimhuis debut last year with improvisers Ingrid Laubrock and Tom Rainey, and was given carte-blanche to organize a concert. She chose to perfrom a duet with Ernst Reijseger. Just like Davis Reijseger’s work has always pushed the envelope and been boundary breaking stuff. He is an improviser pur sang who has performed jazz and non-Western music, as a soloist in classical ensembles and as a composer (including the musical scores for the films of Werner Herzog.
