In collaboration with neighbouring venue Muziekgebouw aan ’t IJ the Bimhuis presents three master pianists that deserve wide recognition: Marc Copland, Eric Watson and Matthew Shipp. They will take turns performing during a single concert. Marc Copland’s playing is intimate and poetic in the tradition of jazz legend Bill Evans. The music of Eric Watson is a cross between the elegance of Duke Ellington and whimsicality of classical composer Charles Ives. Matthew Shipp played with jazz adventurers David S. Ware and Roscoe Mitchell. He uses his own compositions and standards as springboards for turbulent improvisations.
