Rumbling double concert with Amsterdam formation Naked Wolf, with musicians from a.o. Knalpot and Sol6, plus Norwegian space/rock/jazz-group Bushman’s Revenge, of the renowned Rune Grammofon label.

Distinctions between jazz, noise and rock fade in this double concert, opening with Amsterdam six-piece formation Naked Wolf featuring musicians from Knalpot and The Ex. The text on the sleeve of their debut album hints towards their sound: ‘the room shaking with demonic orchestras, the snatches of fearful sleep, the voices outside the window.’ Improvisations with hypnotic grooves by bass, drums and baritone sax are colored with trumpet, guitar, voice and electronics.

Space rock, cosmic jazz, electric drones: it all comes together in Busman’s Revenge. This Norwegian power trio achieves a fine balance between heaviosity and meditative bliss on Thou Shalt Boogie!, their third release on the Rune Grammofon label. The warm, analog sound of the album reveals influences from the sixties and seventies, from rock as well as jazz: Cream, Jimi Hendrix and Black Sabbath alongside Alice Coltrane, Sun Ra and Sonny Sharrock. ‘Insanely good’ (Jazzwise).

The Bimhuis restaurant is open prior to the concert from 6.30 til 8.30PM (reservations via 020-7882158). After the concert, the Bimhuis Café is open (free entrance).
