Saxophonist, clarinettist and visual artist Peter Brotzmann is one of the founders of European free jazz. His raw, lyrical playing encompasses the whole history of jazz and avant-garde music. With his legendary octet he undermined musical traditions on the groundbreaking album Machine Gun (1968). For over ten years now the main aim of his Chicago Tentet has been collective improvisation.
