Roberta Sá is an absolute star in Brazil, where she’s hailed as one of the best singers of her generation. The concert is preceded by the Brazilian documentary Vinicius.
This year the Brazilian Summer Sessions at the Bimhuis are dedicated to Rio de Janeiro, where the Olympic Games as well as 100 years of samba are celebrated this year. The concert by singer Roberta Sá will be preceded by a screening of the documentary Vinicius, about the influential Bossa Nova songwriter and poet Vinicius de Moraes (1913-1980).
Singer Roberta Sá is praised for her sensual, confident voice. Her recent album Delírio is a declaration of love to Brazilian music, with traditional music forms incorporated into relaxed contemporary songs. The album features previously unreleased compositions by well-known singer-songwriters such as Adriana Calcanhotto, Moreno Veloso, Rodrigo Maranhão en Cézar Mendes. At the Bimhuis she will mix songs from the album with previous hits, together with her band.
The Bimhuis restaurant is open prior to the concert from 6.00 till 8.00PM (reservations via 020-7882158). After the concert, the Bimhuis Café is open (free entrance).
