Will Vinson plays alto saxophone the way the instrument is supposed to sound: powerful, dramatic and as recognizable as a human voice. The New York-based Briton approaches the modern jazz tradition in a fresh way with original compositions and contemporary versions of standards. As a sideman he collaborates with kindred spirits such as Chris Potter and Mark Turner, alongside unique singer-songwriters such as Rufus Wainwright and Sufjan Stevens. ‘Marvelous... like a sprightly Olympic welterweight’ (Downbeat).
