Accessibility of Bimhuis & building activities around central station

De Ruijterkade (behind Central Station) closed because of building activities

Construction of the roof of the bus station on the IJ side of Amsterdam Central Station has commenced on April 1, 2011 and will last until November. During this period, the De Ruijterkade will usually be closed to all vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians from 20.00 pm to 05.30 am. The De Ruijterkade will be open to the public on nights when the construction activities allow this. The GVB ferries remain accessible. During the closures, all traffic will be diverted along the front of the station. Keep an eye on the information boards on site.

Diversions

* Cars will be diverted in both directions over the route Kattenburgerstraat - Amstel - Droogbak (Western entrance).
* Bicyclists are led around the station and over the Prins Hendrikkade.
* Pedestrians can reach the GVB ferries through the Central Station as usual until 01.00 am. After 01.00 am, the ferries can be reached via the outside of the station on the west side, past the Ibis Hotel.
